October 16, 1986 - November 16, 2019
The most painful goodbyes are those unsaid. With broken hearts we share news of the unexpected passing of Fraser Snell on November 16, 2019 at his home in Victoria, B.C., at the age of 33. Born on October 16, 1986 and raised in Red Deer. Fraser was known for his "ear to ear" grin, contagious laugh and caring soul. He was a bright light in many lives.
A natural born athlete, he excelled in High School football and rugby, but his true passion was wakeboarding, honed during family summers in Sicamous, B.C. With his closest friends by his side, his love for the sport garnered him National rankings and inspired the start of a wakeboard school, Ryde Syndicate Board School, where his love of coaching contributed to the success of a number of students. He coached for a couple of seasons at Coble Ski School and Wakeboard Camp in Lillington, NC.
Fraser spent a few years in sales and marketing with Coors Light and Diageo before starting a career in the Oil industry, most notably with Halliburton. As a technical specialist, Fraser also worked in sales for Halliburton's directional drilling groups. He was key in the implementation of a new technology with Nexen, enabling the drilling of what at the time, was the fastest Oil Sands Well ever drilled.
In recent months, Fraser had been successful with the start of a new career in Victoria where he was really enjoying being close to the water and the beauty of the Island. He is survived by his loving parents, Susan and Tim, Sister - Kristyn, brother in law - Maciej Kudrycki, nephew Cooper and brother Cameron. His grandfather Bob Vellner, Uncle and Aunt - Marty and Tikki Vellner, Cousins - Jon (Jess & Vienna), Patrick (Michelle) and Mitchell, along with a large extended family. He was predeceased by his grandmother Loree Martin Vellner.
