Mr. Fred Potter beloved husband of Mrs. Kathy Potter of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the age of 71 years. Fred was born on February 1, 1938 at Kingston, Ontario. He will be remembered for being a hardworking, active, artistic, confident, upbeat person. Fred loved to work, from tinkering in the garage, or around the house to building stone walkways and fireplaces, Fred always had a project or hobby on the go. He had a knack for drawing and designing. Fred could turn the house he lived in, into a true work of art. He loved the warmth and comfort of a wood stove, and was often found sitting close to one. Fred was an active person, who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping, also spending his spare time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Fred leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 52 years, Kathy Potter of Red Deer, Alberta, four children, Fred (Linda) Potter of Calgary, Alberta, Charlotte (Chris) Chamberlain of Athabasca, Alberta, Danny Potter of Delta, Ontario, and George (Janine) Potter of Red Deer, Alberta, as well as twelve grandchildren, Marty, Christopher, Melissa, Matthew, Jessie (Jennifer Carley), Melissa, and Shainna, Tanner, Laura, Carver, Madeline, and Alexandra, along with four great - grandchildren, Jasmine, Raychel, Gage, and Sarah. Fred is also survived by a brother and two sisters, all of Ontario, as well, as numerous extended family members. Fred was predeceased by his parents, and a brother. A memorial service will be held at EVENTIDE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4820 - 45 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. A second memorial service will be held for Fred in Delta, Ontario at a later date. Cremation in care of Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. Donations in Fred's memory may be made directly to the charity of one's choice.
