October 24, 2007

CAWSEY Frederick Rowland Cawsey Born June 1st, 1908, passed away October 19, 2007 at PGRH. Left to mourn his loss son: Emery (Gerry) Cawsey, grandchildren: Denise (Philip) Foucher, Cheryl Cawsey, Emery (Ann) Cawsey, great grandchildren: Marc, Conrad and Celine Foucher, Joel and Owen Cawsey. Predeceased by first wife Muriel in 1944 and second wife Evelyn in 2000, and by his parents and three younger brothers. Fred grew up in Moose Jaw, SK where he excelled in athletics, particularly football. He bought grain for the National Grain Company in southern Alberta during the Depression. In 1936 he met and wed Muriel and together they opened a restaurant in Red Deer. Fred remained in the restaurant business for the rest of his working career, retiring at age 67. Fred moved to Prince George in 2000 to be with his family, spending his last years at Laurier Manor. Fred was a true gentleman, positive, with a great sense of humor and dazzling smile. He lived with integrity and conviction. He was a self-taught student of history and remained interested in current affairs, sports and crossword puzzles throughout his years. He loved family, friends, fishing, ice cream and a certain ‘55 Buick Special. Fred truly was a great example to all who had the privilege to know him. The family would especially like to thank the staff and friends at Laurier Manor and particularly Dr. Raymond whose thoughtful care resulted in Fred's excellent quality of life in Prince George. No flowers by request. Donations in honor of Fred, and in Muriel's memory, to the Canadian Cancer Society BC/Yukon Division would be appreciated. There will be a private family graveside service.
