MAETCHE Frieda (nee Enzie) Nov. 9, 1920 - April 9, 2009 Frieda died peacefully April 9, 2009 at Beckley Farm Lodge in Victoria, British Columbia. She was the youngest child and last surviving member of Emmanuel and Magdelina Enzie and was born on the family farm, November 9, 1920 in Torrington, Alberta. She was married to Otto Paul Maetche in 1941 and moved to Wimborne, Alberta where she and Otto lived on a farm until 1952, when they moved back to Torrington and eventually to Red Deer in 1958, where she lived until 1994 when she moved to Victoria, BC to be closer to her two daughters. Frieda was predeceased by her husband, Otto July 12, 1982 and her only son, Russell James Maetche on June 14, 2001. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Ellen and Eric Nederlof, Victoria, BC; Gladys and Don Blanchard, Portland, Oregon and daughter-in-law, Kay Maetche of Airdrie, AB; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There will be a grave-side service for immediate family members followed by a memorial service for family and friends. Eventide Funeral Chapel in Red Deer, AB are in charge of arrangements which will be announced at a later date. No flowers please.
