GAIR 1918 - 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Louise Gair, wife of Russel F. Gair at the age of 91 years. Mary was born in Canterbury, England on March 29, 1918. She met her husband, Russel when he was stationed in England during WWII. They were married November 14, 1942 and in December of 1943 gave birth to their eldest daughter, Jackie. Mary immigrated to Canada in 1944, with babe in arms, by ship as a war bride. She crossed Canada by train to Russel's parent's farm in Strome, Alberta to await the arrival of her husband. They moved to Wetaskiwin in late 1945 and she gave birth to their daughter, Pat and son, Russel. In 1948, they moved to Red Deer and made it their permanent home. Mary dedicated her life to her husband and children and in making a beautiful and loving home for her family. She loved handicrafts and knitted many beautiful sweaters for her family and others she made many pictures in needlepoint and cross stitch, did some oil painting and was altogether a talented lady. Her love of reading was passed on to her children and she read right up until her death. In latter years, she became very interested in computers and loved to look for information on the net, her favorite subject being the War Brides of Canada. Her daughters received many emails from her as well as her relatives in England. She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Russel, daughter, Jackie (Jim Van Wart) Gair, daughter, Pat (Mel) Kelm and son Russel (Jan) Gair, two sisters and one brother in England, six grandsons, three grand-daughters, six great-grandsons, and five great-granddaughters as well as many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45 Street, Red Deer on Wednesday, June 17 , 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer Alberta.
