McGUFFIE, Garnet

April 6, 1939 - Dec. 22, 2016


Garnet McGuffie a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend too many passed away at the Calgary Foothills hospital after a brief battle with cancer. He was 77.

After 21 years military service Garnet retired from service to live in the central Alberta area where he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic in the north and in the central AB area. Garnet was a great outdoors man where he spent many days camping, hunting, fly fishing, and riding horses through the west country with friends and family. Garnet also rebuilt and restored old vehicles, built fibreglass canoes, and took great joy in tying fishing fly's as his past time. Garnet had also owned a plane and loved to fly his Cessna airplane.

Garnet was predeceased by his parents Percy and Helen McGuffie (Macintosh), sons; Shawn and David McGuffie, granddaughter Tabitha Bullock and his ex-wife Mary McGuffie (Ayre). Garnet has now been reunited with the ones who have passed before him.

Garnet is survived by sisters; Audrey and Sharon, his brothers; Greg and Bruce (Joan), daughter Nancy (Cliff), son Alan (Theresa) and grandchildren; Tina (Brad) Mackay, Adam, and Jordan (Decker), Carissa, Sean, and Harlow (McGuffie). Garnet also has great grandchildren; Owen, Aedan, and Gabby(Mackay); Jeremiah (Bullock). Garnet had close friends who were so close that he referred to his 2nd children and provided him with much support when he returned to live in Rocky Mountain House; Ray and Luanne (Rollier) and Karen and Art (Terpsma).

Inurnment to take place at a later date in Red Deer, Alberta.

Cremation has been entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta
