Gary Thomas Mah

October 6, 2020

June 30, 1945 - October 6, 2020
We are very sad that our beloved husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle and friend left this life and entered his eternal home on Tuesday October 6, 2020. After a long battle with diabetes and kidney failure, we are at peace knowing he is no longer suffering.
Gary was born on June 30, 1945, in Red Deer, Alberta. He met the love of his life Joyce Bunch in front of the old Courthouse in 1967 after her car broke down. He stopped to see if she needed help and as they say, the rest is history. They married a short time after on March 30, 1968 and started their family in Red Deer.
Gary took the Electronic Technician program at NAIT, Communications at SAIT and worked at AGT in Red Deer.
He then moved the family to Rocky Mountain House where he owned and operated West Country Foods until a fire devastated the store. Gary moved the family back to Red Deer and opened Town & Country TV where he continued to work until his retirement.
His competitive nature led to succeeding as a coach in fastball, hockey and friendly family game night where Gary reigns as the Scrabble King! His competitive nature even trickled into his love for fishing as he became a sponsored tournament fisherman and his pursuit to strike it rich led him on many adventurous gold panning trips with his buddy George.
He liked to volunteer, organizing and managing many events including the Red Deer Sportsman Show and Legion Blues Hockey Tournaments. He was a family man who enjoyed taking his family on many camping/fishing holidays-trekking into the deep wilderness to find the perfect fishing spot.
He was blessed with a loving family and is survived by his wife Joyce, daughters Tammy (Kent) Gasco, Trudy (Graham) Haraldson and son Tom. Grandchildren Brittney (Craig), Tyler, Aric, Jordan, Jalen and Koben. Sisters Janet of Toronto, Rita (Richard) of Calgary, Audrey (Gene) of Las Vegas, NV, brothers Richard (Lynne) and Ron (Darlene) both of Red Deer. Numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his parents Suey and Jennie Mah, sisters Shirley and Betty and brother Ken.
