In loving memory ~
Mr. George Alton Burkholder passed away peacefully, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, succumbing to an illness in his 92nd year of a wonderful life, on Friday, November 26, 2021. He was born on his family's dairy farm at Bronte Creek, near Burlington, Ontario. George took over the family farm; where he and his wife, Elaine prospered for many years, until urbanization swallowed up the area. George then moved to the Sylvan Lake, Alberta area; where he and his wife bought a new farm near Eckville and prospered once again.
George was a devout Christian, and a parishioner of St. Mary's and St. Timothy's Anglican Church in Sylvan Lake, where in his retirement he proudly served as a volunteer. George loved to travel with his wife Elaine, where his love of nature and natural beauty stoked his passion for photography. George liked to lead his hiking club into the Grand Canyon. He loved to spend his winters in Arizona; where he is fondly remembered amongst those who remain in his retirement community at Apache Junction. George will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, and many friends in the Sylvan Lake and Red Deer communities. George was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Elaine and his siblings.
George was adamant in his preference that no Funeral or Celebration of Life Service be held, just a small gathering of family and friends to inter his ashes, next to those of his beloved wife, Elaine. All those that knew George profoundly appreciate the bedside service conducted by The Reverend Chris Roth at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre in his final hours. From that service, George truly found his peace. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
