It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that our family announces the death of our husband, father and grandfather. George passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, with family by his side, at the Wetaskiwin Hospital on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the age of 69 years. George leaves behind his wife and best friend of forty-eight years Trude Olsen of Wizard Lake; one son Brad (Kelly) Olsen of Red Deer; three grandchildren: Steven, Emma and Jordan; former daughter-in-law Kathy Olsen of Ponoka; three sisters: Marlene (Randy) Hall, Muriel Frederick, and Myrtle (Nick) Gorda; one brother Greg (Sonia) Olsen; as well as numerous other family and too many friends to mention. George is predeceased by his mother and father Marjorie and Alton Olsen. A Celebration of George's Life will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2 pm at the Lake Del Community Hall at the Village of Pigeon Lake. Public Visitation will take place prior to the Service from 12:00 pm – 1:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in George's name may be made directly to your local S.P.C.A, or S.T.A.R.S Building 16, 29 Airport Road, Edmonton, AB T5G 0W6.
