With immense sadness the family announce the peaceful death on September 5, 2021 of our hero George Edward Gardiner. George was a man of many talents, humor, and passions. He leaves behind the love and joy of his life his wife, Mary, three children Michele (Pat) Quesnel, Michael (Rita), and Mark (Michelle), and four grandchildren Christopher, Nicola, Luke and Katie.
George's post secondary and working life was as a Psychiatric Nurse, Social Worker and office of the Public Guardian of the Alberta Provincial Government.
George contributed to his community by serving as a member and Chair of the Catholic Board of Education, member and Chair of the Red Deer Family Service Bureau, member of St. Mary's Parish Council, Co-Chair of St. Mary's Social Justice Committee, Council of Canadians, Chair of Catholic Social Services Advisory Board, President of the Central Alberta Council on Aging.
A huge vote of gratitude to Dr. Grundling and the awesome staff and administration at Points West Living who cared for George in an exceptional manner.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church at a later date. Parkland Funeral Home in charge of arrangements and more on George's life on their website. Memorial donations may be made to Red Deer Canadian Diabetes Association, Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice.
