George LONG

LONG George Thomas "Tom" Long passed away suddenly at his home on October 3. 2006. Tom was born in Lacombe on February 13, 1934, eldest son of Paul and Ina. He attended school at Lakeside and Lacombe. At a young age he was employed with Flint Rig Oilfield Construction for 3 years. After that Tom started his own business raising cattle, until his passing. At the age of 8, he began pitching fastball at school and until the age of 28, he pitched for the Blackfalds Red Sox. He enjoyed sports such as curling, hockey, football and figure skating. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Paul in 1957 and his mother Ina in 1987. He is survived by his brothers, Larry (Dorothy). Ted, Ken, Glen (Bette) of the Lacombe area. His special nieces and nephews and their spouses, Paula (Mike) Law, Lynda (Chad) Bouchard of Lacombe, Lori (Brett) Edginton of Springbrook, Dave (Karla) Long of Medicine Hat, also his great nieces and nephews, Traci & Ryan Law, Justin & Daniel Bouchard, Walker & Houston Long and Mollie Edginton, also his faithful dog "BEAR". Family and friends are invited to prayers at St. Stephen's Catholic Church Lacombe on Monday October 9, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church on Tuesday October 10th, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery. If friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the S.P.C.A. 4505 - 77 St Red Deer, AB T4P 2J1, or the charity of the donors choice.
