OLDFORD George Leslie 1945 - 2009 "Fond memories linger everyday Remembrance keeps him near" It is with broken hearts and tears of sadness that the family of George Leslie Oldford announce his peaceful passing at the age of 64 years on Friday August 29, 2009 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, with his loving family at his side. George fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and is now at rest. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Sybil, his 2 daughters Carrie Cunningham of Red Deer AB, and Julie (Cory) O’Neil of Airdrie, AB and his dear mother Anna of Lacombe, AB. George's memory will forever be cherished by his 5 grandchildren; Tanya Gordon, Tyler Oldford, Jaden Cunningham ,Trinity Turnquist, and Jorjia O’Neil. His memory will be further cherished by his 2sisters; Carol (Chris) Gregory and Barb (Don) Geigle, both of Lacombe, as well as his 4 brothers; Art (Elaine) of Lacombe, David (Claudia) of Blackfalds, Tim (Lucy), and Peter (Shelley), both of Lacombe. Numerous nieces and nephews also mourn his passing. George was predeceased by his father Robert, daughter Debbie Marie, and his brother Bobby. George was born and raised in Red Deer. He was a longtime resident and mason in the area, and really was a "True Albertan". A Celebration of Life Service for the late George Oldford will be held Tuesday September 1st, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, AB with the Reverend John McKay officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in George's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4730 A Ross Street, Red Deer, AB, T4N 1X2.
