In Loving Memory (1949-2022) ~
George passed away January 16 after a short battle with cancer at the age of 72 years. He leaves to mourn his passing, his two daughters- Cristina (Greg) Northway and Talia Besch, and two grandsons Mason and Ryker, all living in Buffalo, New York. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph, and mother, Elizabeth.
George grew up on the farm southwest of Eckville, attended David Thompson High School and graduated from N.A.I.T before moving to Red Deer and starting his first job with Dresser Atlas in 1973.
He spent most of his life in the oil patch as a consultant before moving to Buffalo with his wife and two young daughters. He returned to Red Deer to return to oilfield employment for several more years.
He currently lived with his friends, Carol and Darrell, in Blackfalds, AB for the past 12 years. His best friend was his constant companion, Keesha, the loyal dog who loved to go everywhere with him until she passed away in 2016.
George was skilled in carpentry, building bird houses and a marvellous greenhouse for his friend and neighbor. He also made some wonderful stained glass pieces for his daughters and grandsons. He enjoyed working outdoors cutting lawn, shovelling snow or leisurely fishing or golfing a few rounds.
George will be laid to rest beside his mother and father in the Red Deer Cemetery.
He wished only for a celebration of his life be held in the spring "when the fish are biting and the sun is shining."
