It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Duckett on December 2, 2018 at the age of 94 years. Gerald was born in Lacombe, Alberta and resided there until his passing.
Gerald was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2015, and his grandson Jason Abelson in 2018. Dad will be dearly missed by all eight of his children: Ellen Thomas (Dave), Barbara Unger, Ken (Bonnie), Karen Abelson (Daryl), Murray, Gregg (Trish), Sandra (Tom Altheim), and Rodney (Laura). Dad enjoyed keeping tabs on his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gerald was a WWII air force veteran. He always enjoyed a good debate and served as a county councilor and reeve for many years. Gerald was also actively involved with the Rotary Club of Lacombe. The family farm is where Dad was happiest, involved with grain farming and also worked as a heavy duty mechanic for a time.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018, at 1:00 pm at the Lacombe Memorial Centre, 5214-50 Avenue, Lacombe, with a lunch to follow. Condolences may be left for the family at www.eventidefuneralchapel.com
