1936 - 2011

Gerald Tyberg passed away at the Bethany Care in Sylvan Lake, Alberta with his sister Joan and his niece Dawn Marie at his side on June 29, 2011. A veteran of PPCLI, he served in Germany after the Second World War. He was a 55 year member of the Legion. We would like to give a huge thank you to the legion for the wound care mattress they donated. He was also a long time member of the Masons and the Shriners. Gerald was known for his sense of humor and kept the residents and staff of Bethany entertained even though he was challenged every day with pain. We thank them for the loving care they gave him. Gerald was born in Lethbridge, AB and grew up in Waldeck, SK. He spent most of his working life in Fort McMurray, AB and Sylvan Lake, AB. He is survived by his brothers John (Lorna), Richard (Linda); sisters Joan (Wayne), Carol (Ollie) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2007, his mother and father Eva and Henry Tyberg; brothers Earl and Ron; and sister Marlene. A Celebration of Gerald's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 212, Sylvan Lake, Ab on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with a private family interment to follow. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made in Gerald's name to the Heart and Stroke foundation or the Legion Poppy fund.
