1937-2021 ~ The family of Gertrude Lodema Prefontaine are saddened to announce her passing on March 9, 2021 at the Red Deer Hospice, at the age of 83.
She is survived by her sister Carrie Frey of Calgary, her sister-in-law Margo Allison of Ponoka, and her children: Ed Prefontaine; Pat Prefontaine (Andrea) and their children Matt Prefontaine (Peri Scheliga), Maria Prefontaine, and Kate Brooks (Dustin); Carolyn Dixon (Bob) and their children Jennifer Anderson (Stephen), Kyle Lane (Michelle Smith), and James Lane; Dave Prefontaine and his daughter Jessica (Darcy Vandale); Faye Craven and her daughters Ally and Erica Craven.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Josh, Kristy, and Liam McLellan, Erek and Kaden Lane, as well as her two honorary children Roger Bouchard (Christine Kosowick), and Joanne Parkin (Randy Drost), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gertrude was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph, her son James, her parents Pete and Lody Allison, her brother George Allison, and her brother-in-law Frank Frey.
Gertrude will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Dakota Cemetery. Due to Covid restrictions, a small, private family graveside service is planned.
