GIANNACCARI, Mr. Giuseppe ‘Joe’ Giannaccari, beloved husband of Mrs. Maria Giannaccari of Red Deer, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the age of 73 years. Joe was born on February 3, 1932 at Maglie, Italy. In 1959, Joe and his wife immigrated to the town of Mercol, Alberta, where they joined their relatives, Tony and Victoria Donadeo and George and Connie Rolli. Unable to find long term employment, his family along with immediate relatives, moved to Red Deer, where he became gainfully employed with Border Paving Ltd. for approximately the next thirty-seven years. Joe will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his commitment to hard word and his enjoyment of large family gatherings. Joe was an adventurous outdoorsman who enjoyed taking fishing trips in the Nordegg area of Alberta. He also enjoyed carpentry and annual collaborative wine-making sessions. Joe leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Maria of Red Deer, his daughter, Cristina and her husband, Jim Cornish of Sherwood Park, Alberta, his son, Franco Giannaccari and his companion, Dianna Bennett of Red Deer and his grandchildren, Joseph Scott Giannaccari and Marlo Maria Giannaccari of Red Deer, Ashley Marie Cornish and David Owen Cornish of Sherwood Park, Alberta and his great grandson, Shaun Scott Anderson (Giannaccari) of Red Deer. He will also be very sadly missed by his sister, Anna (Gino) Romano of Milano, Italy, his brother, Alfredo (Pina) Giannaccari of Maglie, Italy, sisters, Carmela Giannaccari of Milano, Italy and Gina (Rolando) Toma of Maglie, Italy and his sister-in-law, Immacolata Giannaccari of Maglie, Italy. Joe was predeceased by his father, Franco Giannaccari, his mother, Cristina Dell’edera and his brothers, Giovanni Giannaccari, Antonio and Salvatore Giannaccari. Prayers will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 – 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Father Joseph Dephoff, S.A.C. celebrant. Interment will follow at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
