GIFFORD, 1922 - 2006 Alice May Gifford (nee Coles), passed away after a lengthy battle with osteoporosis, at Calgary, Alberta on Monday, July 10, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Alice was born on May 13, 1922 at Hawarden, Saskatchewan, the youngest daughter of Walter and Jane Coles. She was married to William Bruce Gifford of Glenside, Saskatchewan in 1943. They lived in Alymer, Ontario and Glenside and Humboldt, Saskatchewan, before settling in Red Deer in 1951. Alice was a graduate of Key Secretarial School and an active member of Deer Park Alliance Church in Red Deer. She moved to Calgary in 1996, following the deaths of her husband, Bruce and her son, Jim. She resided at the Westview Lodge for over nine years. For the past four months, she has been a resident of the Chinook Care Centre in Calgary. The family would like to thank Dr. Cran and the staff of the Chinook Care Centre, the staff of the Westview Lodge and her daughter - in - law, Rebecca Gifford, who has been a dedicated caregiver in our mother's final years. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Jean (Mike) McDaniel of Fresno, California, two sons, Dr. Ronald Bruce (Joan) Gifford of Lexington, Kentucky and William Paul (Rebecca) Gifford of Calgary, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Alice was predeceased in death by her husband, William Bruce, and a son, Richard James Gifford. Funeral Services will be held at the Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 - 39th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. Alice will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Bruce in the Garden of Devotion, Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
