GLABAIS

September 17, 2007

GLABAIS, (nee McCOLL) 1914-2007 Margaret Lilian "Peggy" Glabais, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Peggy was born on September 20, 1914 at Southampton, Pennsylvania. She obtained her degree in Home Economics from the University of Winnipeg. Margaret then spent many years working at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High Scholl as the Home Economics teacher. Her grandson, David Glabais of Victoria, British Columbia will fondly remember Peggy and the time they spent together, "my grandmother taught me about the wonders of nature when I was young. I recall going along many nature walks and being shown the various wild flowers, of which she knew all the names of, she was a member of the Red Deer River Naturalists, she also always pointed out different birds, recognizing them by their call. She taught me patience during these walks, to listen to the wind sweeping through the grass and appreciate just how small we are in the grand scheme of things. She taught me to look at our world and be taken in by its' beauty. To this day I will still be caught by a radiant sunset or sky full of stars, each time remembering those wonderful times with my grandmother. I have her to thank for these memories and I will never lose the piece of light she so graciously shared with me." She is survived by two grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service in Margaret's honour will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer, on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
