In loving memory ~
Glenys Lily (nee Markham) McCagherty passed away at Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the age of 96 years. Glenys was born in Martin Dales, Lincolnshire, England on December 4, 1926. Glenys met her husband, Orville in England during World War II. Orville returned to Canada and would work another year before returning to England to claim Glenys's hand in marriage. They would both work hard and save their money to return to Canada a year after being married.
Glenys and Orville made their home all over Alberta, eventually settling in Red Deer and raising their family. They loved to travel and visited many countries all over the world. Orville passed away in 1987 but Glenys continued to travel, visiting her twin sister many times in Australia. She devoted her spare time to volunteer work, joining and working for various charitable clubs and organizations.
Glenys will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Barry (Eileen) and David (Denise), her daughters, Dawn (Scott), Heather and Lynn (Kamiar), her sister-in-law and friend, Vivian Bethinger, her fourteen grandchildren, her twenty-six great grandchildren, her four great great grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. Glenys was predeceased by her husband, Orville, her parents, Charles and Lily Markham, her brothers, Cedric and Arthur (Kitty) Markham, a twin sister, Aurea (Lyle) Boyce, and a grandson, Kelly Reynolds.
