May 7, 2009

GOETZ Mrs. M. Mildred Goetz of Bluffton, Alberta passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Monday, April 6, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Mildred was born to Margaret and Duncan Vance on the family farm in the Iola District on February 4, 1933. She met and was later united in marriage to Leonard Goetz on November 26, 1951. Mildred and Leonard raised a family of eleven children on the farm; and with all this activity, Mildred was often the family 'peace keeper,' had many mouths to feed, chores to do, and gardening that needed to be done. She held hard to her faith, and taught all the children of God's love. Mildred showed her love for her family in many ways. She will be missed tremendously, but her family knows she is free of pain. Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her six sons, Joe Goetz of Bluffton; Howard (Val) Goetz of Adelaide, Australia; Alan (Pauline) Goetz of Drayton Valley; Harvey Goetz of Bluffton; Stan (Jean) Goetz of Bluffton; Kevin Goetz of Bluffton; and her four daughters, Leona (Art) Pryor of Trochu; Dorothy (Gordon) Gitzel of Edmonton; Elaine (Shawn) Regnier of Winfield; and Laura (Kirk) Lee of Bluffton; as well as thirty-three grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Christine (Mark) Reimer of Three Hills; her sister, Edna Symes of Bashaw; in addition to many nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Leonard in 2003; her son, Ralph; her daughter, Helen; her granddaughter, Lorretta; and her daughter-in-law, Phyllis. Relatives and Friends were invited to a Prayer Vigil which was held at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Rimbey on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Rimbey on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father Gabriel Udeh, Celebrant.
