SMITH, Gordon Gordon Smith passed away suddenly at home on Friday, July 2, 2004 at the age of 49 years. Gordon was born on January 4, 1955 in Innisfail to Harold and Joyce Smith. Gordon was raised on a farm outside of Caroline. In 1976, Gordon married his soul mate and lifetime love, Carol Sailer. Together they lived in the James River area and raised their 3 children; Jennifer, Janice and Robert. Gordon worked in the oilfield from the time he was 17 until he was 37 years old. At that time, he realized a new passion and began driving for Kyncl Trucking. In February 2001, Gordon and Carol created their own business Smith & Smith Trucking Ltd. Gordon was not only very dedicated and hardworking, but was also the most loving and devoted husband and father ever known. Smiley will be remembered most for his echoing and contagious laugh and his undying spirit for telling jokes. Smiley will be very deeply and sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Gordon leaves to mourn his wife and best friend, Carol; two daughters Jennifer Smith, Janice (Chad) Savage; one son Robert Smith; his loyal dog Mack; his mother Joyce Smith; sisters Sylvia Smith, Darlene (Freeman) Gunderson; brothers Roger (Verna) Smith, Edward (Francis) Smith; mother and father-in-law Albert and Clara Sailer; sister-in-laws Renate (Gerry) Costache, Karen (Daryld) Denham, Nancy (Kevin) Kyncl as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Gordon was predeceased by his father Harold Smith. A Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Caroline Complex with Pastor A.V. Granberg officiating. Interment to follow in the Caroline Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made directly to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation. As a tribute to Gordon Smith, a tree will be planted in the Heartland Tree Memorial Park (Innisfail).
