It was with peace, grace and dignity that Grace Buruma passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the age of 83. While saddened by her passing, we are so thankful for a beautiful life, well lived and grateful that she is at peace following a lengthy illness. Born in Holland on August 31, 1927, Grace immigrated to Canada in 1958. Grace will be remembered by her caring and loving husband of 49 years, Andy; children Bruce and Ramona; and grandson Andrew (Steffany). She also leaves to mourn her brothers and sisters and their families, including Henny (Merle) Oosterhoff in Red Deer, Jeannette, John and Joanne in Ontario as well as Annie, Wietske, Meinte and Henk in Holland, as well as many close and dear friends. Grace was predeceased by an infant son, Henry in 1966. Family and friends are invited to come together and gather at Eventide Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Funeral services will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church, 4708 Ross Street, on Friday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations in memory of Grace Buruma can be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society or the Red Deer Public Library-Large Print Collection.
