GRIFFITHS 1932- 2008 Phyllis Mae Griffiths passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Center on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the age of 75 years. Phyllis was born on June 6, 1932 at Condor, Alberta to George and Eileen Perry. She was raised in the Condor, Bowden and Innisfail area and then moved to Calgary, where she trained and earned a diploma in hairdressing. Phyllis later met and married Jim Griffiths and they made their home in Calgary. After Jim's passing in 1973, she remained in Calgary until moving to Red Deer in 1985 to be closer to her son. Her father moved to Red Deer and lived with Phyllis, who cared for him until he passed away at the age of 99 years. Phyllis enjoyed shopping, gardening, sewing and looking after her home. She loved to cook, especially for her father who loved her home cooked meals. She had one grandson and numerous nieces and nephews who she treasured and loved seeing. Phyllis is survived by her loving son, Norman and his wife Glenda, a grandson, Joseph, a brother, George Perry, two sisters, Debra (Jim) Sigurdson and Terry (John) Matheson. She will also be sadly missed by Aunt Bernice Boon and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Jim Griffiths, her father, George Perry, her mother and stepfather, Eileen and Matthew Neilson, two brothers, Richard Perry, Donald Neilson, a sister-in-law, Fern Perry and a brother-in-law, John Topp. A Funeral Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 St. Red Deer on Friday, April, 18, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Phyllis’ honour may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4730A Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 1X2.
