HAHN Mrs. Dorothy "Jean" Hahn of Blackfalds passed away peacefully at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre on Wednesday, August 9, 2006, at the age of 85 years. Jean was born in Oyen, Alberta, on September 1, 1920, the eldest of seven children and was raised in Acadia Valley. She attended school in Calgary and then taught grades 1 through 12 in a one-room school house in Acadia Valley. In 1946, Jean married Clint Adam Hahn. They later moved to Blackfalds with their three daughters in 1955. After teaching school in Blackfalds for 26 years, Jean retired in 1985. Teaching was her life-long passion and through her amiable and loving manner, she touched the lives of her students and all those around her. After her retirement, Jean was actively involved in the W.I. and the Cheemo Club in Blackfalds. Her strength and unconditional love lives on in her family. She will always remain a source of inspiration in their lives. Jean is survived by her husband Clint of Blackfalds; her three daughters: Brenda Lomnes of Gull Lake; Penny Dana-Vogt (Gerry Nichol) of the Crowsnest Pass; and Heather (Mike) Bourque of Red Deer. Jean will also be lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren: Tracy (Brian) Waritsky, Jan Quapp, Shaun Bourque; and one great grandchild – Harley Quapp. She is also survived by her three brothers: Phil (Lee) Carry; Murray (Wilma) Carry; and Wendell (Nat) Carry. She was predeceased by her grandson Lonnie Dana, her parents Joe and Mabel Carry; her sister Rita Cobb; her brothers Jack Carry & Rod Carry. A Memorial Service for Jean Hahn will be held at the United Church in Blackfalds on Monday, August 28, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. After the service, lunch and fellowship will follow at the church hall. The family gives a "special thanks" to the loving and caring staff at the nursing homes where she resided during the past three years.
