July 8, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Hans Mathiesen on Monday, July 8, 2019 at the age of 86 years. Hans was born in Tinglev, Denmark and immigrated to Canada in 1956 to take up residence in Red Deer, the only other place he would ever call home. He loved his life as a husband and father, as a friend and mentor, and as a bricklayer. He was an active participant in his community and the Danish Canadian Club in particular. An outdoor enthusiast, he especially loved camping, fishing, and gardening. Hans is survived by his wife of 62 years, Inge, his daughter Lynn, and his son Tony.
We offer special thanks to Dr. Robert Mulder, long time family physician, for his years of conscientious care and to Dr. Jeff Pimm and all the wonderful people associated with the Healthy Heart Institute and the Red Deer General Hospital for their knowledge, kindness, and support.
Hans wished for there to be no service or internment and we honor that request. However, family and friends will be notified of plans for a Celebration of Life in the early fall. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Lung Association.
