STEELE Harold Richard 1924 - 2008 Harold Steele of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully with family at his side at the Red Deer Hospice in Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the age of 84 years. Harold was born on April 9, 1924 in Red Deer to Norman and Lola Steele. He was raised in the Willowdale District where he learned that it took hard work, determination, and thriftiness to get ahead. On June 30, 1951 he married the love of his life Helen Graham and moved to the Springvale District, where they made their home together. He loved farming and hard work, making him well respected in the community. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed curling and hockey. Harold had a keen interest in politics and religion making for many passionate conversations. He enjoyed his music, playing the mouth organ for many community and family gatherings. He dedicated his life to his church, with 40 years as an elder and many years of pastoral care. His family was his priority as evidenced by planning many family gatherings and special meals, desiring to keep the harmony and closeness. He leaves to mourn his children, Ken (Mary Ann), Lois, Neil, Stuart (Linda). His grandchildren, Kerrie (Jennifer) Conklin, Jason (Shona), Patricia (Nolin), Aaron, Jeffrey (Kristen), Jordan, Jaclyn, Josie, Jennifer (Cam) and Cameron and Lindsay Steele. His Great grandchildren Paige, Mathew, Kaitlyn, and Maya. His brothers Norman (Mary) and Ron (Edith), and his sister June (Harry) Parr, and numerous relatives and friends. Harold was predeceased by his wife Helen on June 18, 2003 and a younger brother Clifford. Funeral Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 4718 Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Family Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4R 3S6 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4730A Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 1X2.
