Harry Rae

After a valiant 12 1/2 year struggle with Alzheimer's we announce the passing of Harry Boomer of Sylvan Lake, Alberta on Wednesday February 19, 2014. Harry Rae Boomer was born April 13, 1928 in Alix, Alberta. He was raised in Joffre and Red Deer areas. His love for the construction industry started at 16 yrs old when he drove his first caterpillar tractor for Pat Beckley. Soon it became Boomer Bros Construction with his brothers Gerald and Allan. Construction took Harry on many projects all over Alberta and Northern B.C. He loved a challenge. One of his proudest achievements was the development of the Fox Fun Sub Division of Sylvan Lake. His love for dancing and music kept his toes tapping right till the end. Harry's sense of humor and gentle manner will be deeply missed. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy(Dot); two children Leonard (Valerie), Donna Boomer; three grandchildren Keir Hyde (Mandy) and great granddaughter Josephine, Mitch Boomer (Kristin) with baby due at the end of March, Lisa Boomer (Cameron). He is also survived by his sisters Vivian and Aileen; brothers Allan (Irene), Darl (Lynette); sister-in-law Mary Boomer and many cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Harry was predeceased by his parents Russell and Florence; brothers Leonard and Gerald Boomer. We are very grateful for all the out pouring of love and care from family, friends and wonderful Centennial Center staff at Ponoka. A Celebration Of Harry's Life will be held at the Alliance Community Church 4404-47 Ave Sylvan Lake on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. Private graveside was held at the Alto Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made in Harry's name to STARS Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society.
