HARVEY KENNEDY

May 1, 2006

KENNEDY, HARVEY "HUB" Harvey Kennedy, better known as "Hub", passed away peacefully on April 25, 2006 at the age of 62 years. Harv was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Olga Kennedy of Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Harv leaves his memories for his daughter and son-in-law Julie and Scott Townsend; his two favorite "Amigos" Mitchell and Marshall; his brother and sister Mel Kennedy and Larine McQuiston as well as an endless number of friends and pipe-liners. Harvey was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on March 22, 1944. At a young age working hard on the farm and having very little, he told his mom "Someday we won’t have to milk cows no more - I’ll take care of you." Harv was very proud that years later he moved his parents to the land he purchased near Sylvan Lake. His father raised prize Percheron horses and his mom raised his teenage daughter, Julie, after a separation with his wife. Harv worked many years welding on the pipeline that took him all across Canada and as far as Australia. These years of hard work paid off by allowing him an early retirement to golf, enjoy life and more importantly his network of friends which is longer that the pipeline itself. Harv was recognized for 35 years of service with Local 488 Harv spent his last 7 years enjoying his condo in Pheonix where he golfed and spent time with a family of friends. His summers were at his home in Innisfail where he was close to his favorite course, the Innisfail Golf Club. He wanted so much to play the new 9 holes that opened this year, making it a 27-hole golf course. He also prized his new car named "Outlaw" and shed a tear the day he sold it. Harv was humbled to see that the farm he started as a dream had evolved from a place where he did take care of his parents, raised his own daughter to a place his daughter will raise his grandsons. Dad, we thank you for all you have done, for what you have provided and for the lessons you have taught. We appreciate the time you took to become a grandpa to your grandsons, a dad to your daughter and a great friend to your son-in-law. You will be deeply missed and thought of often in the years to come. Julie and Scott would like to thank all of Hub's friends for the endless phone calls, visits, prayers and support as well as the staff at the Innisfail Hospital. A special thank you to Jim and Lynn Martin who were with us until Hub's last moments. A Service of Remembrance for the Late Harvey "Hub" Kennedy will be held at the Innisfail United Church on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend John Yoos officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Innisfail Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Harvey's memory to a charity of the Donor's choice.
