In Loving Memory (1928-2025) ~

Mrs. Heddi McMurray (nee Caspar) passed away peacefully at Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the age of 96 years. Heddi was born and raised in Fairview, Alberta. Heddi graduated from Misericordia in 1950 and became a Registered Nurse.

In 1953 she met her husband of fifty-seven years, Bob McMurray, in Stettler, Alberta, while she was working at the hospital there. Together they operated the corner restaurant in Stettler for a short time. Heddi travelled with Bob in their Spartan trailer while he worked in the oil patch, tool pushing for Cantex Drilling.

Heddi and Bob had five sons together, they were born in Stettler, Olds, Stettler again, Innisfail, and lastly, Red Deer. Their family finally found a spot to settle in to in 1964 and built their dream home on the Blindman River in 1968.

Heddi worked nights at the Westpark Nursing Home while raising their five strapping boys. Cooking was Heddi's gift, she could create a delicious meal seemingly out of thin air for however many people showed up at mealtime with no notice. In 1977, Heddi reluctantly went along with Bob's idea of starting Twin Rock Holdings. Heddi and Bob enjoyed going south every winter to make their circuit of visiting friends and family. Their summer parties at the campsite entertained, introduced, and intertwined a few generations of family, friends, neighbours, and on occasion, complete strangers that happened to come along.

Heddi will be lovingly remembered by her five sons, Michael (Cheryl) and their children, Josh (Sabrina) and Jordan (Jess); Robert 'Punk' (Kandy) and their children, Dana (Dennis), R.J. (Kari), Hannah, and Steven; Mark (Sandy) and their children, Shawna (Brandon), Julie (Jon), Tucker (Kylie), and Stacie; Patrick (Sharon) and their children, Sam (Dave), and Karl; John (Sheila) and their children, Jantina (Roger), Olivia (Nathan), Ben, and Natalie (Colin); as well as her six great grandchildren, Dekklan, Brianna, Alexa, Aralynn, Jack, and Scarlett.

She will also be deeply missed by her brother, Leo, and sister, Tein. Heddi was predeceased by her husband, Bob, a brother, and four sisters.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta. A Private Interment will be held at a later date at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Bob.
