Helen Magdeline Kubasek

July 22, 1935 - April 30, 2025

Mrs. Helen Magdeline Kubasek, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the age of 89 years. Helen was born on July 22, 1935, at the farm in Ghost Pine Creek, Alberta to Peter and Ceclia Hugo. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in Calgary in 1956 and in 1961, married Tom Kubasek. Helen and Tom lived in various locations around Alberta and for two years in France, before settling in Red Deer in 1975. Throughout these moves they grew their family by adding three sons. She also continued to pursue her nursing career, which spanned over thirty years. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Joe (wife, Lily), Tim (children, Zach and Morgan) and Anthony. She is also survived by her sister, Ilene Duska (George), her brothers, Carl and John Hugo and her sister-in-law, Margaret Hugo. She was a cherished auntie to many. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Tom, her daughter-in-law, Donna, her brothers, Peter and Frank, and her sisters-in-law, Stephanie and Margaret. Helen was a dedicated fifty-year parishioner of St Mary's Church, where she was in the choir and a member of the CWL. She was an enthusiastic volunteer for many organizations in Red Deer. She touched people with her kind and caring ways, was always ready to lend a sympathetic ear, and will be missed. A Prayer Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 - 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday May 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer County, Alberta. Cremation has taken place.
