STAUDINGER Helge Alfred Staudinger of RR 1 Sylvan Lake, AB died on July 17, 2005 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer, at 90 years of age. He was born July 6, 1915 on the Alex Staudinger homestead in the Marianne District. Helge married Marjorie V. Matson of Battle Ground, WA on May 31, 1941. They established their home, raised their family and continued to farm at Marianne until 1962. At that time they acquired some raw land in the Gimlet District NW of Eckville. Gradually Helge and Marj developed this farm and in 1969 they built a new home there. They returned to Marianne in 1977 to build another new home, this time on the original homestead where Helge has resided until his passing. Helge is survived by his loving wife Marj and seven children, Carmen and Richard Juuti of Bentley, Russell and Susan (Kurtti, Hilman) Staudinger of Battle Ground, WA, Harvey and Lois (Mellor) Staudinger of Sylvan Lake, Richard and Karina (Lang) Staudinger of Alix, Louise and Wilfred Butterfly of Sylvan Lake, George and Elizabeth (Kurtti) Staudinger of Lesliville, and Sue Ann and Ken Brzak of Stony Plain; two sisters, Helvi Anderson of Stoughton, WI and Hedvi and Victor McCallum of Sylvan Lake; 29 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; Marj's brothers, Lew, Lee, Jim and Chuck; Marj's sisters, Carol, Mary and Rhoda; and many extended family members on both the Staudinger and Matson sides. Helge was predeceased by his parents Alex (1955) and Maria (Rahja) Staudinger (1954); two brothers, Arvo (1915), Walter (1962) and his wife Jean (Tooley) Staudinger (2002); one sister, Elna (1984) and her husband Charles Kovach (1988); one son, Clifford (1989); three grandchildren, Kenneth Juuti (1968), Susan and Douglas Staudinger (1999); brother-in-law, Arnold Anderson (2001); Marj's brothers, Wesley (1996), Donald (2004); Marj's sister, Betty (2004). Visitation will be held at the Apostolic Lutheran Church, south-west of Sylvan Lake, on Monday, July 25, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service for the late Helge Staudinger will be held at the Eckville Community Center on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Kuusamo Cemetery.
