Helmuth HAHN

HAHN Helmuth Albert April 24, 1925 - October 2, 2006 Elmer, as he was known, of Bentley, AB passed away peacefully at Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 81. He is now at peace after several years of failing health. Elmer was born in Greenburg, Swabia, Germany, son of Albert and Martha Hahn. In March 1927, with his mother, sister Lydia and brother Eric, sailed from Germany on the ship Montnarin. They arrived in Canada March 13, 1927 and then by train to Edmonton on March 18, 1927. His father came over first and rented a dairy farm in Lauderdale district of Edmonton. Years later they bought a farm near Onoway, AB. He is survived by his wife Marion, two sons; Larry (Adibi) and Bradley of Edmonton, AB a daughter, Jeanette (John) Martens of Westbank, BC. Also survived by step - children Dale Strong and Diana (David) Churchill of Calgary and Karen (Edward) Noga of Edmonton, sister Lydia Baur and brother Eric Hahn of Edmonton. sister - in - law Giselle Hahn of Brentwood Bay, BC; 7 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Elmer's life will be held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A Lacombe, AB on Saturday October 7th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. If friends desire memorial contributions may be made in Elmer's honor to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta #101, 5208-54rd Avenue Red Deer, AB T4N 5K2 or to the Canadian Cancer Society 4730A Ross Street, Red Deer, AB T4N 1X2.
