Hendrik "Henry"

Henry Drok passed away on May 28, 2014 at the Red Deer Hospital at the age of 94. Henry was born on January 31, 1920 in New Pekela, Holland, to parents Eenje and Geertruida Bekkering Drok. Henry grew up and received his education in Holland. On May 9, 1949, Henry married Alice Huiting. The first two sons Ian and Hiske were born in Holland. The family immigrated to Canada arriving in Nanton, Alberta on August 23, 1952. Henry and Alice lived in Nanton until 1965, moving to Lethbridge and remaining there until 1968. During these years five more sons were born to the family. Harold, Jack, Edward, David and Baby Drok blessed Henry and Alice. In 1968 the family moved to Lacombe before settling in Red Deer in 1973. Over the years Henry worked at various jobs: Custodian with Alice at the Pines Elementary School, and at several feed mills. Henry enjoyed spending time in the garden and enjoyed spending time with his family. Henry was a very proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Throughout his life his ever abiding love of the Lord and being his faithful servant was the core and centre around which his life revolved. Henry was a very devoted husband to his wife Alice, and was her caregiver for her full time until her passing in 2008, even while he was at the age 87. Alice was the love of his life. Henry's faith in the Lord did not diminish even after the loss of 4 of his beloved sons and his wife. He will be greatly missed by all of his dear family and friends. Henry is survived by, daughter in law Lena, sons Harold (Kathy), Jack, Ed (Judy), grandchildren David (Angela), Daniel, Cheryl (Phillipe), Brian (Rachel), Karen, Jonathan, and great grandchildren; Cassie, Brendan, and Ethan. Henry was predeceased by his loving wife Alice and by his parents, his brothers, and his 4 precious sons Ian, Hiske, David and the Baby. A special thanks goes out to the staff at the Redwoods Retirement Home & to the Staff on Unit 32 at the Red Deer Hospital. A Celebration of Henry's life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church, 16 McVicar Street, Red Deer, Alberta with Pastor Gary Bomhof officiating.
