Henry FIVELAND

FIVELAND Henry William Fiveland of Wetaskiwin, Alberta passed away on July 9, 2006. He was born on the family homestead at Westerose, Alberta on July 13, 1918. He was only four days short of his 88th birthday. His parents were Helmert Fiveland, born in Norway and Hannah (Christiansen) Fiveland, born in Denmark. Out of a family of ten, Henry is survived by one sister, Anna (Jim) Davies of Oliver, B.C. and four generations of nieces and nephews, too numerous to name. He was predeceased by his father and mother, two sisters, Marie (Albert) Hougestol, Ida (Einert) Thormoset and six brothers, Adolph (Rose) Fiveland, Henry Oliver Fiveland, Elmer (Dorothy) Fiveland, Carl (Enid) Fiveland, Norman (Dorothy and Mildred) Fiveland, and Albert (Jean and Dorothy) Fiveland. Henry grew up in the Westerose district attending Pigeon Valley School. He said he finally quit after his legs got too long and he had to almost hold the desk on his lap. From 1940 to 1946, Henry served in the Canadian Army. He was a Member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 60 years. After a long trucking career he retired to Red Deer and recently moved to the Peace Hills Lodge in Wetaskiwin where he lived at the time of his death. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14th 1:00 p.m. at the Lakedell Ag Center with Pastor Abe Dubland officiating. Interment will follow at Hegge Cemetery.
