SCHULTZ Herbert May 4, 1927 - May 11, 2009 Herb passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family at the Hanna Health Center at the age of 82. Herb was born on May 4, 1927 in Hanna, AB, and was the youngest of eleven children born to Julias and Emma Schultz. Herb grew up on the family farm in the Scapa/Endiang area. He then started in the trucking business. This is how he met the love of his life, Evelyne Brooker. After they married on October 20, 1949, they later become wonderful parents to two daughters, Roxy and Patsy. They helped on the Brooker farm until he opened his own mechanics garage in Byemoor, AB - Herb's Sales and Service. Herb's pride and joy was his family and friends. He enjoyed many sports and interests such as curling, coaching hockey, snowmobiling, boating, water sking, and hunting. In his retirement years he added to his interests, gardening, playing cards, floor curling and watching both hockey and curling on TV. He also took great pleasure in supporting and cheering any member of his family in their various activities. He was the first one on the bleachers at the hockey arena or the ball diamond. He would also grin and bare many a dance recital. He had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing as well. He was always busying himself with something mechanical and made many long forgotten engines purr again. But no matter where you found him or what he was doing "THE COFFEE WAS ALWAYS ON." Herb was a valued member of the community serving as a volunteer fire fighter in addition to volunteering in many other community organizations. He was a respected and honored member of the local ELKS club, where he held many esteemed positions. He could always be counted on to lend a hand when needed. Herb will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Roxy (Gordy) Gallagher of Byemoor, Patsy (Wayne ) Gallagher of Tulliby Lake, sister in law Irene Brooker of Endiang, sister in law Connie Steves of Stettler, Grandchildren Krissy (Rod) Jack of Byemoor, Nadine (Micheal) Hein of Hanna, Kelly (Trevor) Kingcott of Hanna, Wayne Gallagher of Hanna. Greg (Samantha Grainger - soon to be Gallagher) of Hanna, Ryan (Jaclyn Monech - soon to be Gallagher) of Hanna. Nine Great grandchildren Kirk, Jacey, Mareena, Jesse, Sydney, Jock, Abby, Jaxon and Emma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends and neighbors. He will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him. Funeral services to be held Friday, May 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Byemoor Communtiy Hall with Rev. Lyn Workman officiating. Memorials may be made in Herb’s memory to the Byemoor Community Hall, Endiang Cemetary Club or the charity of choice. Cathy Watts of Heartland Funeral Services entrusted with the arrangements.
