Herman ISSLER

January 6, 2005

ISSLER Herman Otto Issler of Trochu, Alberta, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on January 1, 2005 in the Three-Hills Hospital. He was 78 years of age. Herman was born on May 27, 1926 in Trippe, South Dakota. His family immigrated to Canada in 1928, and purchased a farm 3 miles west of Trochu. It was here that he continued to live and work until 2001 when he retired from farming and moved into town. Herman loved outdoor activities that included hunting, fishing, camping and bike riding. He was a treasurer for St. John's Lutheran Church for 30 years. He had a wonderful sense of humor, he never complained and he was ever ready to tell a joke. In his leisure time he enjoyed computer games, playing cards, or building jig saw puzzles. Any time there was family activity, he was sure to participate and make it enjoyable for everyone. He was a kind and gentle man who truly loved his family and was totally dedicated to them. His laughter and good character will be sadly missed. Herman is survived by his loving wife Kay, to whom he had been married for 51 years; his 5 children, Debbie Mehle (Art), Bonny Riep (Brian), Lois Lemon (Eldon), Tim Issler (Keitha) and Marc Issler (Joanne); 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also left to mourn are 3 sisters, Annie Bartz, Elsie Tetz, Irene Gwinner; and many other family members and friends. The family wishes to send special thanks to Dr. David O'Neil and the staff at the Three Hills Hospital for their generous care and outstanding support. Funeral Services for Herman will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the Trochu Community Center. Internment to follow at the Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or the Three Hills Health Care Centre.
