Hilda passed away in Red Deer at the age of 89 due to complications of Dementia. Hilda was much loved by family and friends and by those who cared for her at Points West, Bow Valley Cottage.
Hilda had an infectious smile and often a twinkle in her eye. She loved to sing and could often be heard belting out old songs in the kitchen. Hilda was born in Blidworth, Nottinghamshire, England and lived as a child/teenager through the Second World War. After the war she married the love of her life Gerald.
The two remained in England until 1969 when they and their now three children emigrated to Grande Cache. In 1974 they moved once more and settled in Red Deer.
At the age of 48 when most of us are starting to count the years till retirement Hilda enrolled at RDC and earned her RN degree. She worked at RDRH on unit 21 until her retirement. Hilda was a very beautiful, intelligent, strong and courageous woman who never backed down from a challenge. Hilda was pre-deceased by 8 siblings, her husband Gerald in 1984 and more recently her daughter Gail and her son Ian. She is survived by her Son Andy and Daughter in law Jan, Ian's wife Sophia, Grand daughters Katrina, Julie, Spring and Summer,. Grandsons, Chad (Treena), Adrian (Jackie) Mitchell (Jocelyn) Martin (Anna) Steven and Jade. Great Grandchildren Ella, Baron, Oren, Irena, Forrest, Robert, Majesta and April.
Mom chose a few words for her family and friends.
When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me.
I want no tears or gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little but not too long and not with your head bowed low
Remember the love we all shared, miss me but let me go.
Make the most of this moment of life that's here
For this moment is now, you can't count on more
The future may hold better or worse
But now is the moment of life that is sure.
Do it now, not tomorrow, not sometime.
For now is the time to do what you should do
Now is the time for living your life
And now is the time for you to be you
Rest in Peace Mom, Granma, Great Grandma
