HOGAN 1922 - 2009 Mrs. Margaret Frances Hogan passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Margaret was born on July 11, 1922 at Cupar, Saskatchewan. After completing high school, she went on to Teacher's College. While teaching in Calgary, she met and married Al Hogan. During Al's career in the Air Force Margaret had the opportunity to teach at schools spanning across Western Canada. She balanced her career while lovingly raising a family. The final stage of her teaching days was spent at River Glen School in Red Deer. After retirement, Margaret enjoyed travelling, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching and spending time with her grandchildren. Recently, Margaret became a resident of Victoria Park Retirement Home where she thoroughly enjoyed participating in daily events and making new friends. Margaret will be fondly remembered and cherished for her friendly nature, a dry sense of humor, and her enduring indomitable spirit. She is survived by a brother, Doug (Sheila) Root of Cupar, Saskatchewan, her loving children, Mike (Lee) Hogan of Calgary, Wendy Hovland of Oklahoma City, and Barbara (Richard) Holmes of Red Deer; her three grandchildren Brett Cormier, Elise Cormier and Jennifer Hovland; and her two-great grandchildren Ryder and Skylar Hovland. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her brother, her sister, and her husband Elmar (Al) Hogan. A Celebration of Margaret's life will be held at Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 101, 5208 - 53 Avenue Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5K2.
