HOHN August Edward 1919 - 2008 Mr. August Edward Hohn (Gus) of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the age of 89 years. August was born & raised at the family home, Brush Hill, Alberta on July 27, 1919. August was called to duty April 17, 1941 for the army, to support the war effort during World War II. During the War he met Ruth Anderson, and they were married on June 27, 1942. August worked various jobs after the war before settling down at Mossleigh, Alberta where August worked as a grain buyer for Parrish and Heimbecker and he and Ruth started their family. In 1965 they moved to Red Deer, Alberta to provide a better education for their daughters. August worked for Intercontinental Meat Packers/Fletchers until his retirement. He loved watching his two grandsons play hockey and drove them to many tournaments across Alberta. August spent many hours making various projects with his many wood working tools. He enjoyed vacationing with his family; with house boating trips on the Shuswap in British Columbia being a favorite. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. August is survived by his two loving daughters, Linda Hohn of Calgary, Alberta, Karen and Tony Wilson of Alix, Alberta, his loving grandsons, Matthew Nowlin (Amie Renninger) of Tremont, Pennsylvania, USA, and Tyler Nowlin of Alix, Alberta. Also left to mourn his loss are his siblings Elsie Paul of Port Alberni, British Columbia, Lillian Hohn, Alma (John) Kowaliuk, and Leonard (Rosemary) Hohn, all of Vegreville, Alberta. A Memorial Service in August’s honour will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
