Horst LEMKE

March 31, 2006

LEMKE, Horst Rudi Lemke of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on March 27, 2006 at the age of 75 years. Horst was born to William and Maria Lemke of Ostpreussen, Germany. His younger years were spent in Europe and eventually he immigrated to Canada and moved to Alberta in the early 1950's. During those early years in Alberta ranching was a way of life, which Horst contributed to. He was a big part of Alberta's ancestry, as he lived and worked on a ranch with Arthur Hayden, raising horses for the Calgary Stampede for several years. Raising horses was his number one passion. Horst moved to Red Deer, resided at Centennial Courts and because of his failing health he lived with his special friend and caregiver, Berdie Burdick. His memory will be cherished by Berdie. Even though Horst never felt like anyone special - he really was special. At Horst's request no funeral service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to The Golden Circle, 4620 - 47 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 3P5. Condolences can be forwarded to Berdie at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. In living memory of Horst Rudi Lemke, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.
