Howard McMullen of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on March 28, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Howard was born at Coronation Hospital in 1939, the only child of Garfield and Esther McMullen. He went to two country schools for grades 1 to 9. He took grade 10 in Hughenden, Alberta. For two winters after, he took Agricultural Mechanics at SAIT. The next four years, he apprenticed for Industrial Power, working on the building of Red Deer Regional Hospital. In December 1962, he married Elaine Homan of Amisk, Alberta. They had four children. In 1964, they returned to the farm north of Coronation, Alberta. In 1974, they moved into Coronation for 16 years. In 1990, Howard and Elaine returned to Red Deer, where they have resided since. Howard is lovingly remembered by wife Elaine; sons Jason and Troy; daughters Carolyn (stillborn), Deanna and Tracy; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; a sister- in-law; one niece; five nephews; many cousins; and many friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father, mother-in-law and father-in-law, baby girl, sister-in-law and brother-in-law. A funeral service (by invitation only, due to COVID restrictions) will be held at Sunnybrook United Church. Those who could not be invited are welcome to view the service live starting at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 6 on the Sunnybrook United Church Facebook page (non-Facebook members can view) or at www.sunnybrookunited.org.
