MILLIGAN,

Howard (Howie) Raymond

Nov. 3, 1934 - Dec. 17, 2016

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Howie. He passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Care Centre with his family by his side during his brief battle with cancer. Howard leaves to mourn his wife of 22 years, Jean Veldkamp; daughter, Sherri Milligan (Greg Morrell); grandchildren, Kai and Kiana; stepsons Lionel (Joanne) Veldkamp, Brian (Trudy) Veldkamp; stepdaughter, Pam(Chris) Mitchell; step-grandchildren, Ryan (Alison), Derek (Desiree), Cameron, Shelby, Shayla, Janelle and Jayden and great-granddaughter Paisley. He also leaves to mourn six sisters and five brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Violet, one sister and three brothers. Howie was born in Carrot River, Sask. As a young man he moved to Alberta to work driving heavy equipment and trucks in the construction industry where he was a member of the Teamster's Union. Howie was a kind, good natured man and loved the company of family, neighbours and his favourite cat Boots. He loved tinkering and spent many hard working hours in the gardens and sharing his harvest. When Howie wasn't in the yard he enjoyed being a pool shark; playing a few hands of cards; watching wrestling among many other sports; and the occasional trip to the local casino. He enjoyed his semi-annual trips to BC and Sask. to visit family, as well as exploring Canada, the USA, Europe, and the various favourite Motor-coach tours with his wife Jean. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of the choice.
