JOHNSON

Howard William

Jan. 4, 1936 - April 21, 2012

It is with deep sadness that the family of Howard Johnson announces his passing on April 21, 2012 at the age of 76 at the Red Deer Hospice. Howard was raised in the Pine Hill District south of Sylvan Lake and lived and worked all of his life in the central Alberta area near family and friends. His greatest joy came when, in retirement he began doing field work for Bill and Gordon Staniforth. Howard married Phyllis Grey on August 25, 1962 and together they raised two children William (Bill) and Pearl. Family was a source of immense pride for Howard, and his fondest memories were always of his granddaughters and specifically their camping trips with Papa and Grandma in the trailer. Howard is survived by his loving wife Phyllis; son Bill (Lee) with granddaughters Kaitlin and Jaylene; daughter Pearl (Mike Nylin); one sister Marion McLeod; brother Ken Johnson; and many friends and extended family. A Celebration of Howard's life will be held at the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Sylvan Lake on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with a lunch to follow. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made in Howard's name to the Red Deer Hospice Society 99 Arnot Ave Red Deer, Alberta T4R 3S6
