Hugh BOYD

BOYD, Hugh James Calvert Jamie was born at Hartney, Manitoba on April 9, 1961. He died of cancer on September 14, 2009 at Ponoka. Jamie was the second child of Hugh and Donna Boyd. They lived at Hartney, Manitoba, Whitewood and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Thompson, Manitoba, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Regina, Saskatchewan and Ponoka, Alberta. Jamie graduated from Sheldon Williams Collegiate in Regina. While in high school, he was a member of 703 Air Cadet Squadron and was awarded with a flying scholarship. Jamie was a full and part time university student for a few years before he decided to abandon academics and become a boiler maker. Because of ill health, Jamie’s working career ended early. Jamie conquered mental health issues, and congestive heart failure. But, he was defeated by cancer. Jamie was predeceased by his father, Hugh Boyd; his sister, Kathryn Nicholson; and his niece, Kaitlin Bligh. Jamie is survived by his mother, Donna Boyd; his sister, Patti Bligh (Gordon); nephews and nieces, Douglas, Neil, Rolanda, Siobhan, Shania, Mindi, and Brandy Bligh of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut; his cousin, Murray Bax and Barb Sondermann of Calgary; his brother-in-law, Tim Nicholson of Ponoka; nephew, Michael Nicholson (Brittany Taylor) of Cold Lake; nieces Jillian Nicholson (James Roy) and Jennifer Nicholson of Calgary; grandmother, Ruby Cathcart of Plumas, Manitoba; many aunts, uncles, and cousins across Canada and the UK; and special friends, Ken and Trudy Robinson of Ponoka.
