WITWER

Hugh LaVern Witwer died peacefully at the age of 90 surrounded by his loving family on November 23, 2009 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. LaVern was born on May 18, 1919 at the home of his parents, Dan and Amy Witwer. He grew up on the family homestead farm and married Clara Belle Webb on October 19, 1949. They farmed near Acme, where they raised their seven children. In 1977, they moved to the Red Deer area where he remained active in the Elks Lodge (65 years) and the Oddfellows Lodge (25 years). He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Clara Belle, his sons Dan (Paulette), James (Marilyn), Rod, Cameron (Betty), Tom (Melody) and Bruce (Georgia), and his daughter Laurie Anne, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many xtended relatives and friends. Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church, 5226 - 51 Ave, Lacombe, Alberta. Inurnment will take place in the Acme Cemetery on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Piper Creek Lodge, 4820 - 33 Street, Red Deer, Alberta.
