HUMMEL Mrs. Alice Florence Hummel of Rimbey, Alberta passed away in the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Friday October 24, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Born in Hilda, Alberta on May 4, 1926 to Andreas and Katherine Mehrer, Alice later married Charles Hummel and together they moved the family to the Rimbey area in 1963 where they farmed SE. of Rimbey. Alice remained on the family farm until May of this year when she moved into the Parkland Seniors Manor. Predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Charles in 1993 as well as by five sisters; Elizabeth, Martha, Frieda, Hilda, Emma and by four brothers; John, Edward, Andrew and Otto, Alice is survived by her two sons; Rob (Dawn) Hummel of Cochrane, Alberta and Jim Hummel of Rimbey. Alice also leaves to mourn eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother; Paul (Bertha) Mehrer of Medicine Hat, Alberta and one sister; Meta (Lex) Davis of Calgary. A celebration of Alice's life will be held from the Rimbey Senior's Drop In Centre on Thursday October 30, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment of Alice's cremated remains will follow in the West Haven Cemetery.
