HUNT It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Harvey Hunt of Bentley Alberta following a courageous battle with lung cancer on August 10, 2007. Steve will be lovingly remembered by his longtime companion, Jean Mitch, children; Darrell (Terry), Doug (Andrea), Derek (Christina), Duane (Leta), Alexis (Jill) and Jeff (Marcy), 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren (and one on the way), numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends and associates. Steve was predeceased by his daughter, Stephanie Michelle and grandson, Ryan Henry. Steve was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on December 25, 1929. He graduated from City Park Collegiate in Saskatoon. He served the communities of Regina and Swift Current as a member of their police forces for 14 years. Starting as a constable with the Regina Police Service, he rose to the rank of Detective Sargeant. While with the Regina Police Service he co-founded the Regina Police Boys Band and the Regina Boxing Club. Steve's second career was as an insurance adjuster in the western provinces from 1964 to 1992. He served as President of the Alberta Association of Insurance Adjusters (Red Deer Branch) and was an active member of the Kinsmen Club. His strength, wisdom and wit will be missed by all. Steve loved family gatherings, his faithful dog, Baxter, playing cribbage with his kids, a good shot of "Oh Be Joyful" and watching golf, baseball and football on TV. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Cancer Clinic. Your kindness and caring attitude was very much appreciated by Steve and the family salutes you for all you did for him. A Memorial Service will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 - 67 Street) on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with a celebration of his life following at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #35 (2810 Bremner Avenue).
