Iladell SODERBERG

July 10, 2009

SODERBERG Iladell The family of Iladell Helen Soderberg sadly announces her peaceful passing at Valley Park Manor in Red Deer on July 4, 2009 at the age of 89. Iladell was born to Serine and Edgar Evenson in Frontier, Saskatchewan on April 29, 1920. She attended Moose Jaw Normal School and began her teaching career in the districts of Ridgely and Georgina, where she met her future husband Ejnar. After Ejnar returned from Europe after WWII, they married in Vancouver on January 11, 1947. They began farming in the Great Bend District near Delburne, where their three children were born. In 1958 they moved to Red Deer, where Iladell taught at Michener Centre, Souh School and Annie L. Gaetz. She retired in 1982, and upon the passing of her husband in 2000, moved to Victoria Park Retirement Residence. She was taken ill in 2006 and after months of hospitalization, went to live at Valley Park Manor in 2007. Iladell loved her family, crocheting, reading, crosswords, watching figure skating, and dinner theatres. She was a strong lady who took in stride the hardships that life dealt her. She taught us grace under pressure and how to find the strength to handle life's trials with acceptance and love. Iladell leaves to mourn, her daughter Erna Soderberg of Red Deer, and her sons Ron Soderberg and Rick Soderberg, both of Rimbey. Also sadly missing Nana are Erna's children - Airyn (Steve) Street of Ponoka and Seth Van Havere of Red Deer, and the three much loved great-grandsons that were the delight of her life, Kael and Maddox Street and Cash Van Havere. She also will be missed by her sister Gladys (Woodrow) Hanson of Strathmore and brother Norman Evenson of Frontier, and by countless nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband Ejnar, her sisters Mamie, Myrtle and Alice, and her brothers Elmer and Silas. Iladell's family would like to express their gratitude to the compassionate and professional staff at Valley Park Manor for their unerring care and concern for their mother while she lived there. They made her last days much less difficult for her and for her family with their gentle and loving care. Each one of them are unsung heroes that do not get the recognition they deserve for the way they conduct their most valuable work. A memorial service for Iladell Soderberg will be held at a later date. An announcement will be published in the Advocate.
