NEILSEN, INEZ EILEEN

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Inez, age 81, beloved wife for 61 years, of Roy Neilsen, Red Deer at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, Friday, January 1, 2010 after a brief illness. Inez was born December 22, 1928 at Cereal, Alberta, daughter of Albert and Gena Johnson. She moved with her family to Benalto in 1936. She started work at the Benalto Grocery Store (owned by Don Wilkes) and in 1947 taught one year at the Benjamin School, north of Gilbey. Inez met Roy in Benalto and they were married in 1948. They were well known as they attended most of the area dances. Inez was a member of Benalto Elks Royal Purple. Roy and Inez belonged to the Benalto Curling Club and as a team won many trophies at local bonspiels. Roy and Inez moved to Red Deer in 1962. Inez worked for Builders Hardware and was a receptionist for Dr.'s Foord, Burt and Boutros. She retired at age 55. Inez is survived by her loving husband Roy Neilsen, Red Deer, her brother Elmo Johnson (Alma), Penhold, sister Norma Runham, Calgary, sister-in-law Barbara Neilsen, Lacombe, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her mother and father, brother Milton Johnson and sister, Geneva Polis. An open house visitation will take place at the Roy Neilsen residence Saturday, January 9, 2010 between 2 and 4 pm. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
